ABOUT US
The University of Nigeria, one of the leading academic institutions in Nigeria, has over the years created and developed a robust framework for the network of international relations and strategic partnerships through the interactions of stakeholders and experts in the priority areas. As a key player in the management of international partnership programmes of the university, the Office has pursued vigorously and championed new linkages in the areas of staff/students exchange, research/training programmes, curriculum development and joint conference and research.
In pursuit of her vital policies and programmes, the University has consistently maintained the responsibility of initiating, encouraging, promoting, facilitating and coordinating international programmes and linkages, faculty and student exchanges, and collaborative research projects across academic disciplines. This, it achieved, through a broad-based collaboration with foreign institutions and agencies.
With the widening scope of globalization and the necessity of maintaining a high standard of learning and world best practices, the Directorate of International Collaboration has been consistently seeking active involvement and partnership with, not just academic institutions, but with a number of non-academic institutions, including Ideon Science Park, Sweden and Lundavision, Sweden. This, however, was made possible through the establishment of the Office with her sundry aim of exploring avenues and creating opportunities for students and staff to pursue degree programmes abroad.
The Directorate of International Collaboration is the extant international office of the University of Nigeria, and was established in 2016 by the administration of Professor Benjamin Chukwuma Ozumba, the then Vice Chancellor, with Professor Kenneth Chibuzor Ofokansi as the pioneer Director. The office supports the development and implementation of the University’s Global Strategy through the management of international partnership programmes and projects, which are driven to enhance the reputation of this University as a leading global institution.
In October, 2020, and following the changes in the personnel structure of the University, and with the assumption of office of Professor Charles Arizechukwu Igwe as the Vice Chancellor, Professor Chikelue Ofuebe took over the headship of the Directorate of International Collaboration as the new Director

In pursuit of global best practices, it desires to establish direct links with all Faculties of the University and get each to appoint External linkages/International liaison officer to coordinate all external linkages of the respective faculties and report back to the central office.
